The authors reviewed the various points of supervision in analysis and analytic psychotherapy through discussing under the subjects of the teach-treat controversy in supervision, various models of supervision, failed and successful supervisor, parallel phenomenon and its meanings, advantages of group supervision, writing about analytic process, and issues of confidentiality in supervision. The important points of supervision in analysis and analytic psychotherapy are thought as follows: Firstly, supervision is not the treatment for the supervisee but supervisor can handle the counter-transference issues of supervisee because handling counter-transference issues may be helpful for the supervisee to understand the unconscious process of supervision. Secondly, the method of supervision is various as psychoanalytic treatment is, therefore, it will be useful for the supervisor to communicate with supervisee to find out most useful method of supervision. Thirdly, the aim of supervision is to understand a patient but to learn how to understand a patient is more important. The meaning of parallel process in supervision is to acknowledge the interactions among a patient, a therapist-supervisee, and a supervisor. Fifthly, writing about the interaction between a patient and a therapist is important in writing about therapeutic process. Sixthly a conflict exists between keeping confidentiality for a patient and using patient¡¯s case in teaching and learning about psychoanalysis.
